Fragrant Dreamlike Clouds In The Poetic Garden

It is necessarily important to discuss his poetry at the mention of a poet. He Qifagn's early work Prophecy is well-known for its matchless subtle emotions and dreamy atmosphere, and therefore succeeds in leading him into the literary circle. However, its style is incompatible with the contemporary turbulent society, which has made it under an ocean of controversies since it was born. This dissertation adopts theories to analyze the text with the aim to explore the wonderful atmosphere.The dissertation is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, it introduces He Qifang's childhood, which is reflected in Prophecy and becomes the real psychological basis of it. The oppressive feudal family provides him with a lonely childhood while the ardent love for the classical poetry and the extensive reading of the modern ones evoke his sensitive mind. The second chapter comprehensively interprets its contents and thoughts in detail, respectively from the melancholy monologue, the adult's loneliness, to the participation in the funeral procession according to the order of the work itself, which also represents the developmental procedures of He Qifang's thought. In the third chapter, after it simply explores the writing characteristics due to the early discussion in some experts' article, it mainly interprets two typical ways of the writing of Prophecy, that is, the use of rhetoric which helps to sketch the dreamy garden of He's early poems and also of his mind, and the application of interrogative sentences which reflects the procedures of his mind from his admiration of his own purity to bravely joining in the people's revolution.
