From Landscape Painting To Scenery Painting

Oil painting has a long history in western world. Its introduction to China leads to the development of Chinese oil painting, as well as scenery oil painting. Influenced by Chinese traditional culture, especially the ancient landscape painting skill, some contemporary scenery oil painters in China combine the two painting skills - western and eastern style - to create work which mingles with western characteristic and Chinese taste. Meanwhile, some other painters attach emphasis on western traditional painting and different painting genres of current time, contributing to the flourish of modern scenery oil painting in China. This article puts much stress on the development of contemporary and modern scenery oil painting in China, and the painter's concept and style as well.
