A Study Of Hong Liangji's Poetry

Hong Liangji,as a great master of textology in the Qing Dynasty and a literary giant during the reign of Emperor of Qianlong and Jiaqing,was famous for Cizhang and textology.But the study on his original poetic theory and outstanding literary creation was quite lacking except his demography.This paper made use of the previous researches,by the means of "comprehending somebody and his time",and comparing him from various perspectives,thoroughly studied Hong Liangji's poetic theory and creation with an examination on his life experience and the poetic circles at his time.The introduction part looked back the history and status quo of the studies on Hong, pointing out the present researches on him have almost come to a standstill and then putting forward the emphasis and means of the research.The centerpiece of this paper was composed of five parts:Chapter One gave a brief account of Hong Liangji's life experience, analyzed his ideology and personality in combination with his works in order to understand his creation psychology.Chapter Two dealtwith his circle of friends from four aspects: native philosophers,old learned scholars,literary officials in Grand Secretariat and other talented scholars,so as to deeply inspect the influences on his literary creation from different groups.Chapter Three studied his poetic theory system from four aspects:poetry ontology,theory of poetic noumenon,theory of poetic function and theory of poetic creation with an examination on the background of poetic field in the reign of Emperor Qianlong and Jiaqing.Chapter Four outlined his creative track,and then analyzed the ideological content of his poems from the following six categories:frontier picture and alien scenery,wandering in nature,paying attention to the reality and being sad about the times,singing temperament and expressing embrace,presenting each other poems and his friendship,singing of historical events and ode to things or inscribing paintings.His artistic achievements on poetry also was quite outstanding,the fifth chapter expounded it in five aspects:inheriting from all outstanding poets and advocating changes,stressing concentration and being implicit,imagining peculiarly and being good at uncluttered writing,including all kinds of poetic forms and being good at "ancient-style",a variety of artistic styles while giving priority to magnificence.The epilogue briefly discussed Hong Liangji's other literary creation in order to grasp the panorama of his Literary Creation.The ending part integrated the acceptance of Hong Liangji's literature to objectively judge his status and influence in the literary history.
