Thought And Image: The Patterns Of Visual Expression Of Xiwangmu Art Motif During Han Dynasty

Through analysising the pattern of visual expression of the art motif of Xiwangmu, this paper attempted to expound the relation between the Han Dynasty people's ideology and the image expression.Under the Han Dynasty people's ideology influence, simultaneously the paper also pondered how the pattern of visual expression of the art motif of Xiwangmu has been chosen , how the diachronic transmutation had experienced , what basic rules had displayed and other issues.On the basis of researching Xiwangmu from the myth - literature angle,this paper tried hard to relate Xiwangmu to the myth thought, people's life idea as well as the correlation image for the analysis.Therefore, after a brief explanation of the origins of the research ,the introduction part pondered over this paper's research methods.The paper has been divided into four parts, and analyzed the formation and the transmuted procession of the pattern of visual expression of Xiwangmu from an perspective of the synthesizes of images motif : Beginning in the myth text, the first part analyzed the myth background of the motif image of Xiwangmu,and made good bedding for explainning the formation and the development of the pattern of visual expression;Through analysising the head ornaments, the position and the sitting posture of Xiwangmu,the second part showed that in most cases Xiwangmu's image performance followed the three basic characteristics: the head ornaments was splendid, the position was the upper,and she sat directly above the symbolic space ("mountain" or "tree"); From the perspective of the synthesizes of images motif ,the third part analyzed the pattern of visual expression of Xiwangmu and the combination and change among Xiwangmu motif, the animals, people, spatial motif as well as symmetric motif of Xiwangmu--East Princes. They also were the four basic pattern of the visual expression of Xiwangmu motif. Then the combinative expression between the four motif and Xiwangmu motif had profound relation with the changing of Han Dynasty people's thought.. From the relationship between the human and the artistic,the fourth part, had summarized the full text, and explained that Xiwangmu image was a metaphorical space.
