Buddhist flying figures and when they fly, they usually borrow the idea of flying from Taoism. The concept of "aging material turn to be immortal" from folk belief and also witchery belief has also influenced the flying motif in novels.The ideology of flying is reflecting the psychology of human that is longing for a long living life, to escape from the reality chaos and to pursue spirituous adventures; the function of flying plot in novel is to show the extraordinary identity and ability of the character, the most important function is to overcome the distance of time and space between immortal world and secular world. The flight motif continues to appear frequently in novels after Tang Dynasty. In Ming and Qing novels, the details and description of flying is more comprehensive and has been deepened. Over thousands years, Chinese literati favor in flying motif has formed a brilliant scenery in novels, and it has also reflected one of the characteristics of the Chinese literature that full of imagination.
