With the vigorous development of translation cause, translation studies have developedfreely in all forms and styles and have shown many new characteristics in the new century, soit is quite necessary to sum up and organize them in the process of translation studies. Theachievements of translation studies are mainly embodied in the publications of relatedacademic works and papers. The academic views and trends presented especially by therelated learned journals quickly reflect the research status quo of the discipline frontier.General Catalogue of Chinese Key Journals was directed by Beijing University and BeijingColleges and Universities Journal Research Association, and its forth version was presented in2004, based on which this thesis selects 8 key journals for foreign languages which arerepresentative of publishing more papers on C-E, E-C translation studies as the study base.Through the analysis of the author's statistics, we can see that translation studies relativelyfocus on the studies of the relationship between translation and language, the relationshipbetween translation and culture, translational subjectivity, translation criticism, theestablishment oftranslatology and translation teaching, etc.The study of the relations among translation, language and culture is the eternal theme oftranslation studies. As long as translation is in progress, the participants will face thetransformation of languages and differences among cultures. By applying the achievementsand research methods in linguistic study to observing such a particular activity as languagetransformation, we can discover the close relationship between translation studies and thedevelopment of linguistic theories. The study of the relations between translation and cultureis the natural extension of linguistic study in translation studies, and is the further expansionbeyond the technical level. Due to the inseparability among translation, language and culture, the study of the relations between translation and culture mainly develops around this feature.Language concerned in translation belongs to people in different regions, and so doesculture, which is fully embodied in the differences between the author of source text and thereader of target text. It is the translator who bridges peoples from different languages and cultures. He always wittingly or unwittingly takes people of one language and culture as hisstandpoint and tries to take people of another language and culture into account. So thethought and discussion of "human being" as the subject run through translating and the studyof it from different angles and at different levels. The advance of the times, the progress of the culture, and the enhancement of thecommunication have greatly quickened the development of the practical and theoretical studyof translation. Translatology itself has developed steadily and independently as the trend ofthe times indicates. Since the new century, the disciplinary construction and research oftranslatology mainly concentrate on the following aspects: the establishment of itsdisciplinary position, the overall research of translation theories, the organization oftranslation history, translation teaching and talent training. The disciplinary construction andtalent training are the important components of translation and the cause of translation studiesand the objective requirement of the social development as well.
