Interaction Between Translator's Subjectivity And Inter-subjectivity-a Tentative Exploration Into "ecological Dialogue" In Translation

Translator's role and function have been research difficulties for translation studies,and also have been one of the essential questions in translation theory.By reviewing the embodiment of translator's subjectivity in different schools of translation,this thesis enumerates changes of translator's subjectivity and analyzes the reasons.It could be seen that translator's subjectivity has experienced the changes from being overemphasized to being neglected.Whether in philological sate,linguistic school or in culture school,it is inevitable for studies on translator's subjectivity to turn to the extreme.However,studies on translator's subjectivity are supposed to conduct in the systematically theoretical system to avoid the single perspective which leads to the limitations of study.In order to keep pace with the development of ecological culture and translation studies,Hu Gengshen,Professor from Tsinghua University,puts forward the “Translation as Adaptation and Selection” and based on the former theory he constructs the Eco-Transaltoloy to analyze translation activity from the perspective of ecology and “translator centeredness ”.Eco-Translatology provides new perspective for translation studies,and according to it translation activity is no longer the action seeking equivalence between languages,or the inclusive culture in which the trans-linguistic and trans-cultural communication are researched.As a new translation theory,limitations and inadequacies of theory can be found in Eco-Translatology.Therefore,the author in this thesis would point out theoretical inadequacies namely “adaptation and selection”,“translator centeredness” and unclear concept in eco-environment.What's more,based on eco-environment in Eco-Translatology,subdivisions of eco-environment and translation activity would be made to realize the specific function played by translator in each stage of translation activity.Inter-subjectivity in this paper would be adopted to renovate the drawbacks of “adaptation and selection” and “translator centeredness” which overemphasize translator's role in translating.At the end of this thesis,the author would interpret anew the interactions between subjects and the degree of translator's subjectivity in translation activity from the perspective of inter-subjectivity,and would put forward a tentative exploration—interactions between subjectivity and inter-subjectivity in translational eco-environment with an aim to call for the scholar's attention on inter-subjectivity when studying the Eco-Translatology.
