The feature of plot in Xiangsheng remains one of the most basic concerns inXiangsheng research. Over its long-term of evolvement, great importance has beenattached to Xiangsheng research, however, more systematic and in-depth approachesshould be adopted in the research of its plot-feature. This paper intends to explore theplot-feature in Xiangsheng by means of combining both text interpretation and relevantnarrative theories.Introduction:In this paper, througn straightening out and describing the researches inXiangsheng after the founding of the New China, the concept of story-like Xiangshengand the plot feature in Xiangsheng is to be defined. Meanwhile we found that there's stillpotential space for ongoing research in Xiangsheng's plot feature.Analyzing the expression of theme in story-like Xiangsheng with comic feature asthe starting point. Emphasis is to be laid on the different classifications of the structuresof story-like Xiangsheng, so as to further elaborate on how the plot feature can bereflected in different types of Xiangsheng. In addition, personal views are to be aired onthe horizontal development of story-like Xiangsheng, the flexibility in the segmentationof its structure, and in particular, on the characteristics of ' being hilarious butincomplete' in Xiangsheng's endings.Being a kind of record, and creation of the text of desk work, as well as aperforming art form, performer's role in reflecting the unique comic feature ofXiangsheng(including story-like Xiangsheng), is of vital importance. In this section, I'dlike to make some comments on the comparison of different texts, and the differencebetween new Xiangshengs' writers and performers in terms of handling methods.Furthermore, a tentative summary is to be made in the handling methods from theperspective of the relationship between making laughstock and foreshadowing. Finally,by examining the dialectic relationship between being marvelous, ingenuous, andexquisite, we elevate the contributing factor of the plot-feature in Xiangsheng to a higherlevel, so as to better recognize its value.As receptors of the performing arts on the stage, audiences play the role of offeringfeedbacks. In this section, a simple analysis and statement will be made in the reflectionof audiences' roles in the cycle of performers—Xiangsheng performing—receptors. Story-like Xiangsheng is a type of performing art that boasts a long history and stilldisplays great vigor and vitality up to now. This paper shed some light on such problemsas how to ensure its further development, the straightening out of existing story-likeXiangsheng, as well as the exploring of its plot feature.
