Study The Plot And Story Of The Figures In The Tombs Of The Liao Dynasty

Due to the scarcity of information and records,Liao Dynasty artworks and cultural representations are extremely rare.Through archaeological discoveries,murals from Liao Dynasty tombs with their unique and mysterious artistic forms gradually filled the vacancy of records and the regret at the sample limitations in the hearts of scholars,who study Liao Dynasty art.Due to Liao Dynasty's special historical timeframe,bridging Tang and Song with Jin and Yuan Dynasties,painting techniques also reflects this legacy and transition.In particular,the human figures presented in narrations and scenes in such murals are highlights worthy of current artists' interests and explorations.This paper analyzes different mural figure paintings completed during various timeframes within Liao Dynasty.Through examination of the position of figures,social status symbols,composition and context,this paper explores how the story and plot of the murals unfold.So as to capture the characteristics of Liao Dynasty tomb murals and provide ground for new aspirations.This paper will analyze in the the following sections:Chapter 1:Introduce current situation of Liao Dynasty murals including the figures within the murals,research status,purpose and significance of this topic.Chapter 2:Influence of Tang and Song Dynasties' figure paintingChapter 3:Compare and contrast Khitan and Han tombs'treatment of figures'positions,social status symbols,composition and context of stories and their impact on that of Liao Dynasty's counterpartChapter 4:Liao Dynasties figure painting characteristicsChapter 5:Liao Dynasties figure paintings' story and plot leading to present day Chinese painting creative thinking.
