The Hua Gu Deng Dance, prevalent in Anhui and north Huai River, is one of folk dances most typical and representative of Han people. While the "Feng" School, founded by the famous performer Feng Guopei and very popular in Bengbu of Anhui Province, is one of the most representative and influential genres of this dance.This article is to study, comb and explore this very special "Feng" School in an in-depth manner. Its main body consists of three chapters: Chapter One deals with the origin of flower drum lantern and its connection with agricultural culture and plaza art. It gives a general review of the Hua Gu Deng dance art in the era of Feng Guopei and an introduction of the formation, causation, artistic features and succession of three major genres, thus laying a quite firm basis as to the background and succession of this folk art. Chapter Two is an emphatic analysis of the life and outstanding achievements of Feng Guopei and a summary of the innovative agility, elegance, grace and beauty of hisperformance. In particular we have an in-depth study of some choremes especially typical of "Feng" School, for example, "swinging willow", "reeling fan", "sliding pheasant" and "double twisting", so as to further explore the uniqueness of this dance. Chapter Three is an elaboration of the past, present and future of "Feng" School. In addition, we also have a deep study of the experience, works and styles of two famous disciples of this school, Lou Lou and Gao Xiaoping, as to reveal its ongoing growth and progress.
