At present, economic globalization is speeding up. China has more frequent interaction with the global economy after its entry into the WTO. In order to meet the international competition, China is in urgent need of a multitude of versatile talented people who are not only equipped with the business knowledge but also competent in intercultural communication. This poses an unprecedented challenge to English teaching, in particular, the Business English teaching.Meanwhile, the theories on Intercultural Communication Competence have been imported into China. Our Business English teaching has begun to realize the importance of the cultivation of students' ICC but the results are not satisfactory. Therefore, this thesis makes an attempt on the content and measures in the cultivation of students' ICC in the teaching of Business English.This thesis consists of six chapters including introduction and conclusion. In the first chapter of Introduction, the importance of and the development on the theories of the cultivation of ICC have been outlined. More importantly, the necessity of cultivating ICC in the teaching of Business English is presented. Chapter Two serves as the theoretical basis for the thesis, in which it introduces the definitions and characteristics of communication and culture, and the interconnectedness of language, communication and culture. The definition of intercultural communication is given at the end. Chapter Three reviews "linguistic competence" and "communicative competence" with their weaknesses. Then it defines the intercultural communication competence and its components with two levels of the cultivation. Chapter Four is a practical unit that puts forward a framework consisting of six sections. Chapter Five presents prerequisites, measures and principles. The final part concludes the thesis with its limitations and future research.
