The research tested the hypothesis that the opportunity to observe oneself increases the accuracy of metaperception and influence the metaperception. There are 56 participants, including 20 socially anxious participants and 36 not socially anxious participants. The program:(1) socially anxious participants were selected by completing Interaction Anxiousness Scale. Then all participants were separated into tow teams, participants of one team look at the videotape of oneself, participants of other team look at others'videotape .(2)Small group were videotaped during a discussion, after which group members judged each other's big five personality traits. Participants watched either the videotape of their behaviors or a videotape of other's behaviors .After watching the videotape, participants predicted how they were judged by each member of the group( metaperception) .The results showed that:(1) The metaperception accuracy of socially anxious participants is lower than the metaperception accuracy of not socially anxious participants.(2) After watching the videotape of one's behavior, the metaperception accuracy of socially anxious participants is obviously promoted; After watching the videotape of other's behavior, the metaperception accuracy of socially anxious participants is not obviously promoted. Difference between the metaperception accuracy of socially anxious participants and the metaperception accuracy of not socially anxious participants is obviously.(3) The main effect of self-observation for metaperception of nervousness, extroversion, open and conscientiousness is obviously. For the socially anxious participants, the main effect of self-observation on metaperception of is not obviously; For the not socially anxious participants, the main effect of self-observation on metaperception of conscientiousness and agreeableness is not obviously.
