During the later period of Ming Dynasty, there appeareda geographer——Wang Shixing, who was as famous as Xu Xiake.In his lifetime, he almost visited all over the country. Atthe same time, he did so much field survey about everyprovinces' history,territory,taxes,products,rivers,mountains,custom,culture and so on. On the basis of thepractice and his profound knowledge, he has written a greatof imperishable geography works and has made prominentcontribution in our country's human geography aspect. Inaddition, Wang Shixing also raised some Unique ideas abouttravel, for example, he advocated widespread peregrinationand also advocated that the real knowledge originated frompractice. Meanwhile, he classified the "travel" into threeparts: "Natural travel","Human travel","God travel"Otherwise, he advocated some advanced concepts and ideasabout different districts, he also told people some specialideas about how to know the nature's beauty. During the research of theory, he also specially pays great attentionto the traveling practice, the typical example is theconstruction of Bai Ouzhuang.This article divides into four major parts, which areconcerned about Wang Shixing' life, the works, the travelingthought and the traveling practice. It mainly analyzed thebackground of Wang Shixing's traveling thought and thedifference from those of many other famous tourists. Throughthis thesis, the writer want to get a more careful understandingon Wang Shixing's traveling thought and benefit from them.
