| The concept of eco-translatology in cultural transmission was first coined by professor Hu Gengshen in 2001.Through the metaphorical analogies between the Natural Ecosystem and translational Ecosystem,Eco-Translatology becomes an emerging eco-translation paradigm of Translation Studies from ecological perspectives.This theory,due to its synoptic significance in translation,is developing progressively.It is adopted by a great number of scholars in translation studies and thus an array of translation strategies has been formed.However,there is little eco-translational research on particular translation category.So this thesis,as a study on translation strategies,will trying to study traveling news from the perspective of eco-translatology with the aim of both improving the translation and expanding eco-translational study in specific field of translation.The rapid development of the global economy has brought along the fast expansion of tourism which has been regarded as the tertiary industry,and the number of tourists increases sharply during these years.As a result,there is an increasing number of traveling news,especially in English.Translator has been playing an extremely prominent role in transferring as well as releasing the several kinds of latest traveling news.First,it introduces the concept of Eco-Translatology as well as the strategies adopted herein for translation.This study based on the author’s own E-C translation of 25 traveling news selected from three foreign newspapers and website including USA TODAY,Express and http://www.news.com.au from January to September 2015.Second,it explains the definition and features of Eco-Translatology.After that,it describes the whole procedures of translation practice.Then,it discusses the application of "Three Dimensional Transplantations"(language culture and communication)in translating these 25 pieces of traveling news.In addition,it further applies more specific translation methods as multi-dimensional adaptation and selection,absorbing or re-shaping the new eco-environment,"making up" for lacking elements in the terget eco-environment and "leaning on"either the source-text or the target-text ecology in the author’s translation of traveling news.It can be concluded from this study that when translating traveling news,translators can adopt translation methods from the perspective of Eco-Translatology to maintain its authenticity,practicability,serviceability and publicity. |
