The type of"beautiful woman in the spiral shell"folk tales are wide-spread in China, Korea Peninsula and Japan and it has more than 1700 years of written form record history.China is the mother country of the above mentioned folk tales which was jot down in the book"enlighten biography"in West Jin.As the prototype of that folk tales-"white water female"and"Wu Kan"was varied at the need of fascinating and vivid request which was the character of the oral literature as the time and region changed then appeared many sub-typed story during the process of the spreadingPeople are the main dissemination of the folk tales as a result the folk tales have a close relation with people and reflect people's life,culture, customs, habit, time and spirits directly. Therefore this thesis will bring this type of folk tales and the related folk items into the range of research.This thesis will collect and reedit the original and changed sub-typed'beautiful woman in the spiral shell' folk tales that were spread in China, Korean Peninsula and Japan.We set out from the different outlook between three countries; making use of the method of history geography in comparative literature.;adding the ethnology research method and the structuralism method to it; focusing on the variation of the folk tales during the period of spreading; finding out the characteristic and their specific represent of each race and countries; meantime finding out the common traits and their forming reason of each race. In addition to it this thesis research into the relationship between' beautiful woman in the spiral shell' type story and the important materials in detail; broadening the horizon of comparative comprehension; looking out the supporting evidence of producing the similarities and differences in China, Korean Peninsula and Japan; as a result hoping to promote the comparison research of the folk tales in China, Korean peninsula and Japan.
