Folktale is one of the important aspects of folk literatures. From ancient times, people orally transmit various narrative stories which are full offantasies and in wide range of subjects. In both ancient a nd modern civilization, folktale occupies an irreplaceable position, es pecially for academic research in many aspects. China, Korea, and Mongolia all branched off from the same root. The interaction and i nfluence between cultures and literatures could be found easily amo ng three cultures. Due to the differences in time, environment, cultu re and psychology, the contents and forms of folktale are becoming more colorful and full of their own national cultural implications gra dually during the process of spreading.In this paper, we choose the method of thematic study as a gen eral way of study. In doing so, we compared Chinese, Korean and Mongolian folktales focusing on AT1920J "Race Years" type, AT31 3A "Whitebird Girls" type, AT503E,613A "Two Brothers" type, and AT981 "Abandoning the Old" type and analyzed the relationships a mong these folktales’topics as well as the similarities, and changes and characteristics in the process of spreading, based on the intern ational General "AT classification" from (China folktales type index) authored by Ding Naitong. This study analyzes the theme associatio n among three counties from the aspects of theme, mother problem and plot. Meanwhile it also researches similarity, variation and featu res of three kinds of folk tales during the process of spreading, to f ind out three countries’literary characteristics and expressiveness. Then, this paper explores the rules of emergence, spread and evolu tion in national culture under the background of diachronic and sync hronic. At last, this paper demonstrates the specific cultural phenom ena and cultural values of folktale.
