This paper aims at making a comparative study on the thought of Hegel's "Being"and "Nothing" which are two basic cornerstones of the whole philosophy of Hegel. Theway of thinking and the logical structure which are embodied in the statement about"Being" and "Nothing" of Hegel are also used by Hegel to build the whole philosophy. Thus, it is of great significance to study them.We use "Language-Syntax Analysis" approach and "Comparative Studies" approachin order to reveal intrinsic meaning and characteristics of Hegel's "Being" and "Nothing".A comparative research between Hegel and Heidegeer, Hegel and Lao-Zi shows us theprofound meaning of the statements about "Being" and "Nothing" of them. The full text is divided into four chapters. Besides Chapter one ("Introduction"),Chapter two, Chapter three and Chapter four constitute the main part of this paper.Chapter two is a direct illumination on Hegel's "Being" and "Nothing". From aperspective of Chinese Linguistics, we can see that Hegel's "Being" and "Nothing" arerelated to a Chinese word"çš„". That is to say, the structure of Hegel's "Being" and"Nothing" is "Being-and-Nothing" distinctly or potentially. The characteristics of Hegel'sphilosophy, such as "Identity", "Readiness", "Closeness" are all determined by thisstructure. The above views are strongly supported by the followed two chapters (Chapterthree, A comparative research on "Being" and "Nothing" between Hegel and Heidegeer,Chapter four, A comparative research on "Being" and "Nothing" between Hegel andLao-Zi).In the deep-seated sense, the different views of "The Human Survival" and the wayfor people to achieve "Freedom" depend on their dissimilar views on "Being (Existence)"and "Nothing".
