As a peotryeditor, he promoted, revised, transformed or even perfected the peot Guo Moluo. Thedepth of his thinking and political passion made him an excellent editor with rare artisticvision and keep awareness of talents in the history of New Verse. As a poet, he had madespecial contributions to the style of New Verse. Like Bingxin, he also was a veryimportant poet of Short Poetry with the aritistic style of philosophic mind. As a poetictheorist, he promoted the harmony between perfect personality and profound artistry ofpoetry. He is the first poetic theorist who attached great importance to the form of poetryby advocating constructing the forms through arranging the lines and he believed the NewVerse should have the bueaty of form of pictures. He emphasized the unity of the formand quality of poetry, the aspects of "how to write poetry" and construction of the artisticconception to rectify the trend of extreme freedom of "how to write". He also attachedgreat importance to the poet's personality and the creation of love poems. The reputationof Zong Baihua as "aesthete" overshadows that as "New Verse theorist".As the role ofeditors of poetry for poetry production has been greatly underestimated, thecontributions of Zong Baihua as editor of poetry has been seriously neglected. Most of hisNew Verse creations are Short Poetry, so his contributions as a poet to the styleconstruction have also been underestimated. Now it is necessary to re-appropriate for himto make an objective evaluation and established his position in the history of ModcrnChinese Poetry. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Zong Baihua, Modern Chinese Poetry, Poetry Editor, Poet, Poetic Theorist, Contributions | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
