In Wei and Jin Dynasties, there were unprecedented achievements in literary andaesthetic theory. It is worth mentioning that, the social role of the shi (literatus-official)in this dynasty have achieved Chinese national aesthetic ideal to a certain extent. Itwill get a final model to the liberation of Chinese Nation and the whole humanity.Based on the "Shih-shuo Hisn-yu: A New Account of Tales of the World", My paperwill explore and study the aesthetic ideals of Wei and Jin Dynasties.Among the first chapter, I will place Shih-shuo Hisn-yu on the social backgroundof Wei and Jin Dynasties, which is broad, ambitious and complex. In this dynasty, theregime changed frequently, the society was turbulence, manor economy was booming, ideological pluralism was apparent, Classics has been declined and Metaphysicswas rising, religious developed rapid. On one hand, the background is the main causeof these various lives of literatus-official; on the other hand, it is the sources ofaesthetic ideals and life aesthetics in Wei and Jin Dynasties. After the finishing of this social context, I try to list the representative stories inShih-shuo Hisn-yu. And according to the view of Mr. Zong Baihua: "The naturalbeauty and the beauty of personality have been found meanwhile by literatus-official",I divide the aesthetic ideal type into two dimensions——the pursuit of natural beautyand the pursuit of beauty of personality. Among the two, the pursuit of personalityincludes formal beauty and spirit beauty. This paper stress the significance of the bodybeauty, which become independent aesthetic content. And it also stress the unity oflibertinism and sentimentalism, which is a paradox. Most of literatus-official ignoredethics and resisted secular. They took medicine and drank, moreover, madethemselves nude. However, it is the sentimentalism that in these liberated behavior. Ina word, we can find out independent personality in libertinism, while lifeconsciousness in sentimentalism. Well, the natural beauty include three dimensions, which are landscape love, seclusion and the integration of landscape beauty and beauty of personality. The landscape become independent aesthetic content, andseclusion can be the best way to achieve aesthetic ideal and pursuit life regression.Based on them, literatus-official of Wei and Jin Dynasties combine the integration oflandscape beauty and beauty of personality. To some extent, they complete thenaturalization of mankind. The paper show landscape awareness in aesthetic ideal ofWei and Jin Dynasties.Despite of the two chapters of proof, it is not enough for us to stop there and it isstill necessary to probe into the deep aesthetic significance within the topic. Therefore, the third chapter continues. In the third chapter, the author constructs a life system, which contains all the Aesthetic categories of Wei and Jin Dynasties. In Wei and Jinperiods, along with the prosperity of Literature and many other kinds of arts, theaesthetic nurtured many aesthetic categories that were inherited by the futuregenerations, for example "Qiyunshengdong", "Fenggu', "Wenqi" and so on. As a notesnovel, which recorded the literary atmosphere and trend of its age, "Shih-shuoHsin-yu" contained many aesthetics catagories, such as "Shen", "Qi", "Yun", "Feng","Gu". The deeper I read the novel, the more I constantly realized these catagories areinherently linked. Eventually, "Shen" and "Qi" are set as the core of Wei and Jin lifeaesthetic. "Yuan" and "Gao" are considered as two channels to sense "Shen", and"Qi" are constitued of "Qing", "Yun", "Fenggu" in three different levels of aestheticsignificance. Base on above all, the construction of the system of Wei and JinDynasties aesthetic catagories is completed, which is thought to be the most creativepart in this paper.
