The title of the study is"Study on the Situation of Teaching Chinese in America after 1979".Teaching Chinese in America developed dramatically after 1970s, which was contributed to the America policy and economic growth after its establishing diplomatic Relationship.The study illustrates the situation of Chinese teaching in America extensively.It shows the teaching Chinese history ranging from beginning to the peak of growth. And it consists of various aspects such as students, teachers, teaching plans, teaching methods, circurium structure, textbook and test.The preface,introduces the significance of the study, orgnization, and method.The first chapter is about the generalization of the history of America Chinese teaching in terms that"self-spontanity","self-knowledge"are introduced according to Europe.The second chapter, the most important one, discusses the reality of Chinese teaching in America.It involves the resouses of students and teaching style,that of teachers and request about them, syllabi and couse arrangment, and textbook,teaching methods, and testing in the middle and high school and universities, especially.The third chapter is about the problem in America Chinese teaching including the shortage of teachers,textbooks,teaching methods.And the questions drown by the author are helpful to teaching chinese.The last chapter is to the inspect of drawbacks in the study.With the abundant survey on data on teaching chinese , the mixed situation can be improved.
