Study On The Narrative Feature Of Liu Zhiyuan's Zhugongdiao

Among the three works of Zhugongdiao existing now, Liu Zhiyuan's Zhugongdiao is the earliest one according to its area, edition and style. This thesis attempts to find the narrative features indicated in the work itself by analyzing and studying the early edition of Liu Zhiyuan's Zhugongdiao from the stylistic and narrative angle, furthermore, this thesis tries to find an important stage in the development of Zhugongdiao especially before the creation of Dongxixiang and its coexistence with folk literature such as wudaishipinghua, in order to show the initial formation of Zhugongdiao.The style feature is mainly about the"form"whose feature is the coincidence of rhythms and blank verse and the"musical system which decide the standard of style".The development of musiacal system is the process of forming the stylistic essence of Zhugongdiao, which is the question to Wang Haoshi's view that Zhugongdiao isn't individual style. Based on this and drawing support from the definition and pattern of narration, the feature of narration in Liu Zhiyuan's Zhugongdiao is analyzed and studied.The thesis includes three parts:I. Study the narrative feature of Liu Zhiyuan's Zhugongdiao in existing edition, which is the focus of the thesis. Analysing and introduing the text of Liu Zhiyuan's Zhugongdiao and"changci shuobai"which is the main part to find the narrative feature of Liu Zhiyuan's Zhugongdiao and initialize the structure and narration of Zhugongdiao.In sum, there are five points with respective examples: 1. third personal narrative form with agile perspective; 2. usage of rhythm and blank verse; 3. the function prelude and epilogue; 4. comment ;5. the handle of rhythm by plotting content.II. Study the narrative feature of Liu Zhiyuan's Zhugongdiao by comparing between wudaishipinghua and Liu Zhiyuan's Zhugongdiao.In order to further and make up the narrative feature of Liu Zhiyuan's Zhugongdiao as the earliest work of Zhugongdiao by explaining the relationship between Zhugongdiao of Jing Dynasty and huaben. The similarities between them are as follows: expressive approach; expressive technique; performing pattern and organization while the differences are the language; narrative rhythem; comment; dependence on music; and the characterization. This part is the supplement for the first part.III. Study the evolution of Zhugongdiao by comparing between Dong Jieyuan's Xixiangjizhugongdiao and Liu Zhiyuan's Zhugongdiao. Their system and structure are similar,third personal narration is used in both while Dongxixiang is more mature. In order to meet the demand of larder amount of narration , complicated singing and language pattern is used. The reform lies in the statement of the alternation in Dongxixiang.In conclusion, as a audio art, player of Zhugongdiao must be professionalized. The players those days also have developed their own pattern.
