The fact that Frida receives so much attention results from her legendary art life as well as the uniqueness she possessed in the arts history. This essay focuses on such issues as the subject of Frida's hardships in his art life, her unique mind of assessing arts, her unique style of arts, analyzing her unique existence and her contribution to arts history.Only if art can touch the subject of hardships in life, may it possess the historical meaning and emotional deepness, for hardships is the basic destiny of human beings as well as the source of arts creation. Only if artists observed and expressed this subject, can they become great ones in this field. For this reason, it can be said that whether an art expresses the subject of hardships and salvation determines the vitality of arts. Frida was born in the misery of Mexican nation and accompanied with body pain, sickness and death, which means hardships can be said to be the epithet of her life. When facing these hardships, Frida never surrender, but instead, using her power of arts, she expressed all these vividly, which made her works so powerful across the nations and times. This essay illustrating Frida's uniqueness and contribution by combining her real life hardships and this spirit represented in her arts.For an artist, the experience of life's hardships would become a driving power of art creation, making his or her works vivid and unique by realizing the world and feel the essence of the world and seeking the perfectness of oneself in the spiritual world. Frida's life experience about hardships contributed great to her valuable creation of arts by transplanting her real life physical pain and spiritual misery into her art creation and telling frankly her own stories by means of her personalized drawing style of humor and fantacy. On the other hand, this creation of arts added colors to Frida's life and offered her new life and new hopes. Frida is, not only a unique artist, but also a feminist and a Marxist, who, as a senior member of the Mexican Communist Party, was an active participant in rallies of the Party. Her creation in art is doomed to be featured by paradoxes and fantasies because of her painful experiences and tore-up multi-identities. In the process of finding and losing the identity, Frida nurtured a highly unique aesthetic taste: the co-existence of a strong appearance and a painful state of mind, a mixture of personal life experience and national spirits, and a hybrid of objectivity and subjectivity. All these paradoxes run harmoniously in her painting, which offers us a unique aesthetic effect.Hybrid is a general feature of her paintings. First, her paintings to some extend represent Mexico, because the local characteristics can be strongly felt in them. Second, her paintings are quite rich both in form and source. In them not only the local culture is represented, but also the reflection of her generation on the current time can be found. Third, her painting can be interpreted as a description of the on-going development of culture, and a reflection on the hybrid culture.The write holds that it is the unique theme of hardship, different aesthetic point of view as well as unparalleled painting skills that make her an irreplaceable artist in Mexico, even in the whole history of art.
