CanXue's novel creation can be divided into two stages with the division line of early nineties in the 20th, and was greatly influenced by Kafka. At the beginning of creation, CanXue got the concept of non-rationalism from Kafka, because of her rebellion towards traditional style. After mid -nineties, CanXue absorbed much from Kafka about fantastic mode of realism and Gothic story pattern of opposition, but it is more than that the art of CanXue's works is ultimately her own with sieving out some of Kafka's tone, although Kafka's novels are just like mazes and the emotional tone in his works is always bitter and pessimistic, while CanXue's works are always optimistic and positive. The differences between them are closely related to different characters, experiences, backgrounds and cultural heritages. CanXue's novels, which are optimistic and positive, have expanded the connotation and denotation of modernist literature, and provide a new way to save the spirited desert for the modern west.
