Study Of Li Dazhao's Subjective Initiative Thought

To resolve the problem of "where China would go", Li Dazhao pays attention to people's role all the time. Subjective initiative is a mainline of Li Dazhao's philosophical thoughts. As a pioneer of the sinicizing of the Marxist philosophy.Li Dazhao dialectically understands Marxist historical materialism and has plentiful thoughts of subjective initiative.This dissertation is a study on Li Dazhao's thoughts of subjective initiative. In front Marxist philosophy stage, Li Dazhao advocates the free will and creative spirit and opposes fatalism. He thinks that "Min Yi"(i.e. the people) can create history , advocates that only when subjective initiative is brought into play, can new civilization be rebuilt , liberty be gained and value of life be realized. His thoughts show the emphasis on subjective will and spiritual initiative and represent a kind of modern consciousness of advancing bravely and creating future contrary to the traditional fatalism, but show some voluntaristic tendency. After he becomes a Marxist, the inspective starting point of his subjective initiative thoughts changes from the "ought to" of " transcendent " people to the "being" of "real-life" people and the logic basis changes from voluntarism and evolutionism to historical materialism.These changes decide the direction of his theory . In theory aspect, he already realizes that the history of society field has its "particular logos" and tightly seizes "class competition theory". He uses distinctive ways to resolve the "contradictions and conflicts", integrates subjective initiative with history laws and criticizes the vulgar economic determinism and fatalism. He advocates that the history of society is created by the people and the subjective consciousness should be called up to carry out "the reconstruction of mind and matter "in historical course. In practice aspect, Li Dazhao combines the thought of subjective initiative with the reality of China and realizes the greatness of the masses. He thinks that if Chinese revolution can make a success, the working class must act as the vanguard and play the leading role in the revolution ; The intellectual act as the pioneer of public movement and guide the working class,the peasantry and so on. The peasantry is a main force in the revolution of China and women can gain their emancipation only by participating in revolution actively. These push the subjective initiative thougts of Marxist philosophy to sinicize.
