《XunZi》is a famous pre-Qin book which is rich in linguistic features. With its strong truthfulness of documents, large quantity of vocabulary and broad scope,《XunZi》provides important linguistic materials, especially its antonymous characters combinations for the study of vocabulary in ancient Chinese.The article will analyze the antonymous characters combinations in《XunZi》on the basis of the Theory of Character BenWei by XuTongqiang .It includes five parts.Firstly, it will introduce XunZi and his works《XunZi》,which will tell you the book's value as the corpus of linguistic data.Secondly, it will introduce the Theory of Character BenWei by XuTongqiang, for example, character, characters combination and so on, which will put an emphasis on the expression: the Character is the basic structure in Chinese language and is a focus between meaning, grammar and vocabulary ,so we should study the structure of Chinese on the basis of Characters. At the same time, the article will introduce what the antonymous character combination is, how and why we should do in its study.Thirdly, the article will tell you 119 antonymous characters combinations and their characters on the static view and on the dynamic view.Forthly, the article will analyze the meaning structures of antonymous characters combinations in XunZi. The part will have some objective descriptions of the three kinds of meaning structures of the antonymous characters combinations and three kinds of allophones on the following basic meaning model expressed by XuTongqiang:The meaning of a character = a type of sememe X an image of sememeLastly, the article will tell of the answers of the study, the future of the study and the disadvantages of the study.
