In the 14th century, Ming Dynasty of China, a type of intellectual gathering emerged in the palace, which was derived from the intellectual gatherings in citizens. The newly emerging gathering was welcomed by not only the court officials, but also the emperor, who himself participated in it and warmly encouraged its improvement. The advocate of high-level intellectuals made the gathering so authoritative that it had led the way of social literature and art in the period. The object of the present research is Flower-and-Bird Painting. The research tries to investigate, with the influence of the intellectual gathering, what caused the style of the palatial Flower-and-Bird Painting in the early age of Ming Dynasty. The gathering inspired the painting in two ways. On one hand, a literary form called TaiGeTi, which was praised highly by the gathering, had far-reaching influence on not only the literature in and out of the court, but also on the Flower-and-Bird Painting. The exquisite skills borrowed from TaiGeTi caused the popularity of the Fine-brush Flower-and-Bird Painting in Deep and Bright Colors at the time. On the other hand, the carefree state of intellectuals in the gathering impacted the poetic style, which in turn, improved the unique style of palatial Flower-and-Bird Painting. The gathering was an important way for the intellectuals in the palace to create and communicate. Palatial Flower-and-Bird Painting had been greatly influenced by the gathering in aspects of aesthetic style, criteria for comments and its succession as a tradition. Therefore, the value of the gathering cannot be ignored.
