Charles Dickens was one of the greatest realistic writers of English. In recent years, Chinese scholars had achieved a lot in studying his works from different angles. This thesis attempts to extract typical narrative spaces of Great Expectation, one of Dickens'masterpieces, and classify these spaces into story aspect and non-story aspect. The story aspect spaces consist of complicated mystery space and faintly discernible social space, while the non-story aspect space is a psychological space that full of remorse and self-reproach. The writer of the thesis tries to analysis the fully unfolding of these spaces beginning with the arena in which these spaces are constructed, explain the different role of different narrative methods in different spaces, and analysis how these spaces are linked and arranged and their well established relationship and its implication.
