In the history of Chinese modern contemporary literature, Shao Quanlin was an absolutely necessary existence. The writing"middle personage"theory that he proposed had made a large stir at that time, which caused him to become the literary martyr finally. The course he went by has certain time representation. All his life is the miniature of Chinese modern contemporary literature and art's developing winding course. Studying on Shao Quanlin's literary arts thought not only is helpful to our understanding the Chinese modern contemporary literature and art fully, but also has the benefit to constructing the Chinese characteristic Marxism literature and art today. This article tries hard to makes a quite objective inspection and the appraisal to Shao Quanlin's literary arts thought, standing in the time height. The paper divides into three parts.The first part outlines the cause and effect that Shao Quanlin became the literary martyr of the writing"middle personage"theory. Before 20th century 40's, Shao Quanlin mainly received the influence of Lu Xun as well as Maupassant, Chekhov and established the theory bottom color,realism. This theory bottom color had decided Shao Quanlin's overall trend of literary arts thought all his life. However his thought changed, it was impossible for him to completely to be separated from the realism. After the"Yan'an seminar on literature and art", Shao Quanlin's literary and art thought started a transformation to the direction in which the literary arts served for politics. But Shao Quanlin was confused in the process of acceptance the socialistic realism and the principle of"combining revolutionary Realism and Romanticism". It was because of his theory bases and the unoptimistic literary reality. His dual statuses of the literary leader as well as the literary theoretician caused him to struggle in the eddy of writing reality and the principle of the literary which serves for politics. The party and the national leader started from each aspect to adjust the route and policies along with the full appearance of serious results that were made by the people's communalization as well as the Great Leap Forward. A short spring also appeared in the literary and art circles. Shao Quanlin proposed the writing"middle personage"theory and"the realism deepens"theory in the forum on the short story about countryside theme in Dalian in 1962. But, the following closely nation political situation entered a new stage in the class struggle magnification. Shao Quanlin's literary thought was criticized seriously which was accused of the counter-revolutionary. Through the analysis of these characteristics which had credible, bright disposition as well as innermost contradictory, it can be proved that it is the actual utilization of realism creation principle. So we know that it is a dislocation between the political critique and the artistic creation rule which the writing middle personage"theory was criticized at that time .Also it is the necessary extention of the struggle in the two literary and artistic creation literary lines between from the reality and from the concept. The third part carries on the re-evaluation to the Shao Quanlin literary arts thought. The limitation of time has decided the limitation of Shao Quanlin's literary arts thought. He could only attemper the confliction between Socialist Realism and the traditional Realism .He could only propose the limited opinion in the limited scope to the conceptualized literary and artistic creation route then. It was not thorough. At the same time, because the literary political function was excessively emphasized, the reality in the Shao Quanlin's mind condensed only one point. It was that struggle and life which tightly enwrapped the politics .The richer life was discarded. Then relating the literature reality and pointing out the significance of Shao Quanlin's literary arts thought. In the literature which was impacted by the commercial flood, the realism still has the pivotal status and the function. We can draw a conclusion that reflecting the reality profoundly still was literature's bounden historic task.
