Along with the development of English teaching, from the middle period of the 20th century on, the focus of the English teaching has gradually been shifted from researching the best teaching methods to researching the learners and the ways they learn English. The thesis is such a kind of study that covers many academics areas. It focuses on the study of the oral English output of non-English major students, which is affected by the differences caused by gender, family income and familial cultivation. As we know, the oral English output can not only reflect the college students' mastering of English vocabulary and grammar, but also can reflect the student's world views, social values, and philosophy of life. Therefore, the thesis will contribute to further studying the relationship between English teaching and learning, and making the English learning become a social activity. The oral English output is an activity of being relatively instant, so the speaker has no much time to think, therefore it can reflect the speakers' ability of English more authentically, and also can even reflect the student's subconscious activities concerning gender, family income and familial cultivation as well. This thesis aims to find the relationship between the students' oral English output and the differences caused by their gender, family income and familial cultivation so as to study the non-English-major students' learning motivations from a wider point of view, and fully make a good use of these differences to improve the quality of English teaching and learning and raise the level of the students' oral English output.
