The Application Of Checked Pattern In Textile Design

The checked pattern has a long history in the application of textile fabric pattern.Since the invention of weaving technology,checked pattern came up unconsciously,then people noticed that this pattern was very beautiful and more delightful checked pattern was designed after that.Besides,as the development of weaving technology ,there are more and more delightful checked patterns and are accepted all over the world.In different countries,different kinds of checked pattern existed with its own countries' characteristic such as the Chinese traditional weaving checked pattern ,and the typical checked pattern of western country—the Scottish Tartan ,which is a symbol of Scottish coulture .The history of Scottish Tartan is considered as the history of Britain history,which was aslo the symbol of prestige and privilege,each noble family has there own tartan.Checked pattern also has religious meaning ,in the 1920's,the prisoner who wore clothes decorated with checked pattern was considered as "the dangerous criminal ".Today,checked pattern has lost its religious and political meaning,it become an popular pattern and is widely used in fashion and home textile design .In the history ,we can find checked pattern was commonly used in every decade, it inspires so many fashion designers to present great works ,such as Kenzo, Vivienne Westwood and so on .It is so attractive and it's an element to make many fashion looks,like the classic look,neo-hippie look and punk look,etc.It's the same situation in home textile which involves classic style,country style and minimalism style.
