The First Intermediate Period in Ancient Egypt is a time of turmoil, which is between the Old Kingdom and the Middle Kingdom. Therefore, it plays an important role in the whole history of the Ancient Egypt.It is necessary for us to study its historical position and influence during The First Intermediate Period in Ancient Egypt. The reasons are as followings:On the one hand, it is showed on political order. At that time, it is in a mess in the country. With the development of the hereditary system, more and more nobilities escaped from the control of the country. They were free themselves and they did what they wanted to do. Moreover, the Asia tics emerged in Egypt from time to time and they robbed money and goods from Egyptians. So, as the first disturbed period, it can offer some idea for people to study other disturbed periods of Ancient Egypt.On the other hand, it is showed on economical order. Recently, most of the Egyptologists focused on the famine which happened during the First Intermediate Period and gained some outstanding achievements.Moreover, the First Intermediate Period is not the"Dark Age". In contrast, it was thriving and prosperous on art,culture and architecture. During this period, there appeared many wonderful literatures, such as: The Prophecies of Neferti,The Admonitions of Ipuwer,The Instruction Addressed to King Merikare and The Eloquent Peasant. To some extend, the turmoil of the period changed the world sight of the people. It weakened the power of the king in the hearts of the people.This paper began with the background of the period and based on original documents and plenty of English writings and papers. Then I used historical materialism of Marx to discuss the historical value of the First Intermediate Period from politics, economics and culture.
