Nowadays, linguists realize that it is difficult to solve some problems in Uyghur by depending solely on traditional research methods. Some linguists have begun to study the role of language in real communication and use modern computer linguistics and corpus linguistics, which are very popular in recent years, to achieve results.Although corpus linguistics and computer linguistics have not been applied to Uyghur for long, the results make us realize that it is necessary and possible to push Uyghur language study to a new level by using these modern methods to solve the most difficult problems area in Uyghur language research.Using this new research method and the results achieved, this paper records the statistical analyses of verb conjugations from both standard written Uyghur and modern oral Uyghur. The verb conjugation differences are the most difficult point to explain in modern Uyghur using theoretical linguistics. This paper consists of four chapters. Chapter one is the preface which explains the significance of this topic, the introduction to the research methods and the theoretical base.Chapter two explains the former position of linguists on Uyghur verbs, an introduction to verb conjugational systems in Uyghur and how to construct them, and the concluding verb conjugation formula for Uyghur.Chapter three introduces the topic of oral language, the significance of research on it and the current study being done on oral speech. Then a statistical analysis is given of verb forms in spoken Uyghur compared with the written verb forms, and a statistical summation of the frequency of various verb forms in the spoken language.Chapter four is the conclusion. The innovations and shortcomings of the paper are summarized, as well as noting a few problems areas in thisfield that should be studied further. We hope this paper, which makes use of the most advanced techniques of corpus linguistics, will have an active role in further research on Uyghur verbs, both written and spoken, as well as promoting further study of oral Uyghur and helping second language learners of Uyghur.
