A Study On Zhou Zizhi And His Lyrics

Zhou Zizhi was an influential literati in Nan Du period but was seldom recognized by later people. The study on the Zhou Zizhi at present mainly discusses on the investigation of the edition of Tai Cang Ti Mi Collctions and his life. Previous researches of Zhupo's Lyrics only cover certain aspects. In reality, Zhupo's Lyrics enjoyed some fame then. When we investigate and question the cause, we will find that Zhou Zizhi seldom wrote some lyrics about Nan Du's affaires and his lyric's style almost had not been changed after Nan Du. They usually denied Zhou Zizhi's character, for Zhou Zizhi wrote a lot of poems which gave eulogia to Qin Hui. However, it is just a normal phenomenon that was in a special political background. There is some research space on the appropriate understanding of Zhou Zizhi and his character. This paper, by use of traditional research method of understanding a work from the author and his history, investigates Zhou Zizhi's life and deeds, analyzes his literature thought ,discusses the content of Zhupo's Lyrics, Zhupo's psychology of creative work and artistic style ect. This paper includes five chapters:Chapter 1. Zhou Zizhi's life and his friends. Since little work has been done on Zhou Zizhi's life and his friends, we elaborately card them, and then make appendices after the body of the paper, hopefully it will help the further study of Zhou Zizhi. In addition, this chapter commons on the activities of historical figure impartially, verifies the origin and causes of Zhou Zizh's relationship with Qin Hui.Chapter 2. Comment on literature thought and literature view. The origin of his literature thought, we realize the big influence of regional culture and Yuan You School on Zhou Zizhi. Then we make a conclusion of Zhou Zizhi's literature views, which mainly include: advocates a natural and ordinal style,be strict in rules and forms then strives for the syntax, a lyrics should reflect the real world, advocates a purity of esthetic attitude.Chapter 3. Comments on the classification of Zhupo's Lyrics. We choose several classical lyrics, such as love lyrics, travel lyrics, gift lyrics and retreat lyrics etc, to read and analyze in type, try to study the content of Zhupo Lyrics.Chapter 4. The art of Zhupo's Lyrics. The chapter has more detailed analyses of the well-known beautiful and tenacious text. What's more, this paper also points out the gloomy and broad-minded style of lyrics. This chapter also has touch upon language and the image of Zhupo's Lyrics.Chapter 5. A brief comments on the Zhupo compose mentality. From Zhou Zizhi's experiences and reading of Zhupo Lyrics, we discover a painful consciousness in Zhupo Lyrics. This consciousness was reflected in the high sensitivity of time and strong feelings of age. At last, this paper also mentions how to get rid of the gloomy feeling: to love life, to enjoy pleasure in good time.In a word, Zhupo Lyrics should be regarded an true description of the mental struggles and inquirings in certain living space.In addition, this paper has questioned some former views and has corrected some wrong places.
