It was one of the miniatures in the turning century that America extended continent expansion to region expansion in seeking its super power position in the world, even to compete for hegemony in the Far East with Russia and Japan. Along with the establishment of federal, especially after the World War I, the independent consciousness of Australia diplomacy strengthened, which opened up a new routine for Australia to shift from British Empire to the United States, AAR started direct dialogue. With the ad venting of the Great Depression in 1929, the formation of two cradles on war in Asia and Europe, especially the outbreak of the WWⅡcaused AAR head for in the turns and twists. Strategies, national defenses and politics-- common benefits demand made the two countries hold hands in the Pacific-Asia Region and established the anti-Japan allies. With the Pacific War developed in allies'favor, America held hegemony policy in"Lease Act"and"Anti- lease Act", United Nations, the trusteeship of the colony in post-war Pacific, ownership of military bases etc, which suggested the United States'power inflation in post-war Pacific Asia and completion of American region expansion. What the two countries quarreled over is the dispute in building up global hegemony and hegemony problems in the region.The WWⅡwas a watershed to the development of America-Australia relations. Before the WWⅡ, especially 20th century, America's policy towards Asia-Pacific was mainly propelled by commercialism, among which commercial expansion always penetrated the development of America's diplomatic history. In the process of the foundation of America—Australia diplomatic relations, we can see that national interests especially commercial and security interests were the everlasting theme in America's diplomacies. It was also one of the clues and motivations in developing international relations and diplomatic relations. With the globalization of America's interests and the development of socialism since WWⅡ, the ideology-"Freedom and Democracy"has been deepened with each passing day in USA foreign policy.AAR developed from isolating to each other to allying, which accordingly reflected the general tendency of world history and global integrality. The two countries'traditional diplomacy --Expanding and Adhering, Australia's independent diplomacy- germination and practice together with its safe consciousness in the region determined their cooperation and conflicts. The future relation between the two countries will make USA locate properly the position of AAR, American and Japanese relation and Pacific -Asia relation, even to change the traditional thought of expansion and hegemony, leading instead of dominating world. Similarly, if Australia wants to achieve the target–integrates itself into Asia, even get the utmost national interest, it must locate the identity reasonably in the American Pacific Asia policy, get rid of traditional dependent diplomacy , really achieve independent diplomacy and successfully dealing with national relations in Asia.Choosing"Expending and Adhering: The Analysis of American and Australia Relations before 1945"to be Master's thesis, the author tries to investigate the development of history track systematically AAR before 1945 and during the WWⅡ.
