Durirng this period, academic research enjoys a rich atmosphere, research field was expanded,research method was deeply explored,and important research findings also appear.However,because of the lacking of academic researchers caused by the "cultural revolution",the achie vements are rather limited.From another point of view, this period is a period of accumulation and reserve,laying firm foundation for the research development in 1990s and thereafter.Fourth period:During this period,the research on western music history obtains rapid development, and great improvements have been made in both the category and quality of research findings.A large group of monographs on western music history of deep influence successively arise,which marks the gradual mature of research strength in the academic field.The research begins to explore into wider historic time space,music histories of America and other regions are gradually gotten to known by researchers.Along with the development of cultural exchange between Chinese and Western people,the research methods become diversified,and people's thoughts become wider and deeper.This article discusses about important research results from multiple angles and strives to seek beneficial thoughts, and methods.Taking a general view of the whole process, we may find the following rules and trends.The academic study of every period is closely related to and deeply influenced by the political environment and cultural atmosphere at that time.
