Researches On The Historical Books Of Western Music Which Is Written By Chinese

The history of musical communication between China and western countries is lasting for a long-term period. It can be traced all the way back to Tang Dynasty. But the western music did not have a breakthrough until 1920s in China.This dissertation focused on the historical books about western music, from 1920s to 2000s, which is written by Chinese.And the details of these books will be fully discussed in this dissertation.It can be divided into three stages:1. After having been through the 1911 Revolution and the May Fourth Movement of 1919, the music education in China has entered a whole new phase of development. In the purpose of revitalizing Chinese traditional music, between 1920s and 1940s, musicians dedicated themselves to the music education. 2. The Great Leap Forward, People’s Commune and the Cultural Revolution, in the period of 1950s to 1970s, which lead to social instability, also release the negative impact on western music historiography area.3. Since Reforming and Opening, China has gained the huge development in a variety of areas, which including the western music historiography area.Throughout history, western music historiography has been playing an increasingly important role in Chinese modem musical history. The development of western music historiography in China, hopefully, will gets better and better.
