On The Value Of The Digitization Of Color In The Paintings

Considering that the images are somehow distorted when they are digitized in the computer and shown on the screen, many people who are engaged in the visual art research tend to avoid taking this kind of digitized pictures as the subjects in their research. Therefore, the strong data analysis and management capability of the computer is not given full play in the field of visual art research.In this paper, a series of experiments that are carried out to examine the colors of the digitized counterpart of the paintings show that the relation of the colors on the paintings, when transformed digitally into the computer, maintains a significant similarity with that of the original ones. The similarity proves that the color characteristics of the paintings remain the same when they are digitized in the computer. The result provides the rational basis for the practice of using digitized paintings as subjects to study the color characteristics of paintings, and make it possible to employ the highly developed computer technology in studying the digitized paintings.Provided the rational basis of this method, an experiment is conduct, by using computer as a tool, to study the color characteristics of different digitized paintings, showing a result about their artistic styles which are tallied with that of their original works. From this experiment, it's safe to say that the application of computer technology in the research of art field is practical.Based on this rationality, the paper provides some practical suggestions on how to use the powerful data-processing ability of computer in the management of the digitized data of paintings in the art market.
