A Research On Vague Rhetoric Phenomena In Official Press Release

It is a diagnosis study with the qualitative analytic method. It took theexamples from official press conferences of the State Council InformationOffice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry ofHealth and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and soon.From the beginning of the thesis, it is stated the utilization of vaguerhetoric phenomena from the word, the phrase and the sentence. Then hada study of the utilization causes consist of the psychological cognitionfactor, the government public relations factor; the mass mediacommunication factor and the role of localization factor. Finally it gave aconclusion on the principle and the skill of the utilization. It pointed outthe two basic principles are expressing one's ideas accurately andappropriately, the three skills are avoiding answering some questionsreasonably and skillfully; uttering vaguely and indirectly; shifting topicssmoothly and ingeniously.In a word, the thesis intends to further enrich the vague rhetoricresearch with focused on analyzing the text, to study the phenomena ofofficial press release from a new viewpoint.
