Study On Huan Family In Long Kang From Han To Jin Dynasties

Huan in Long Kang area was an influential family from Han to Jin dynasties. FromHuan Rong who as a master of study of Confucian classics founded the Huan familyto be the famous clan of study of Confucian classics to Huan Xuan who failed inhoping of setting up Chu dynasty by usurping state power of Jin, Huan familyexperienced a series turning of decline and prosper.Huan family in Jin dynasty increased their family's social status through activelygetting marriage with the royal family. Despite from the Wang family, they stillstepped into the scholar bureaucrats rank by their relationship with royal family andtheir own military strength.This paper analyses Huan family mainly from the following two aspects ofconversion: the conversion of family learning and family tradition. As for familylearning, it experienced the change from devoutly believing in the Confucianism ineast Han dynasty to worshiping both Taoism and Legalist School in Wei dynasty andfinally to a comprehensive belief including Confucianism, Metaphysics, Buddhismand Taoism religion in east Jin dynasty. With the prosper of New Taoist in Wei and Jindynasties, the descendants of Huan family had literature and art accomplishment invarying degrees. As far as family tradition was concerned, Huan family had obviouschanges as following three aspects. Firstly, manner of Confucianism changed tobearing of famous scholar. Secondly, learning of literature only changed to bothliterature and military. Thirdly, it experienced the change of view about faithfulness.At last the paper makes a contrast between the Huan and Wang family from threepoints which shows the complicated relationships among different families under thefight and compromise between the royal family and scholar bureaucrats.
