Study On The Zhen-guan Marriage Policy

The historical period of"Zhen-guan"plays an important role in Chinese ancient history. It is always the focus of attention in the academic history. At present, the results of study on it are quite abundant, but most historical scholars are trying to analyze how and why such a facet could come true in the beginning of Tang Dynasty from macro perspective. This thesis tries to start from the marriage policy to discuss the role of Zhen-guan marriage policy played in the development of the society in this phase, selecting the two marriage laws executed in the 1st and 16th year of Zhen-guan and on the basis of the analysis of their content, the practice of them, the reason to execute them (that is the social background of practicing them)and the social results.The marriage law of 1st year of Zhen-guan was executed according to the social reality that the common people could not get married in time, the scarcity of labor required for the production. All these were caused by the war in the end of Sui Dynasty and in the early of Tang Dynasty. Its main purpose was to promote marriage timely and make men and women marry maximumly. The promulgation and implementation of it had a positive effect on soothing people after war, providing adequate labor to resume production as soon as possible. But with the solution of the problem, it also had a definite negative impact.The marriage law of 16th year of Zhen-guan was executed to deal with the phenomenon of money marriage resulted from concept of the Old Noble and the fact that some of the officials were eager to get married with them to elevate their social status. With the ultimate aim is to further reduce the old Nobles renown so as to curb the forces of the old Nobles. The promulgation and implementation of it played a positive role in adjusting the order of internal rule, regulating politics in the allocation of resources; But in the view of using political power to interfere with the ideological, It is a failure.The full text of a proof of the above is divided into four chapters :Introduction : A brief analysis of selected Zhen-guan marriage and the need for policy research, the research value.
