Zhang Lei was an important writer in the late North SongDynasty, who was called "the Four Scholars of the Su's school" with QinGuan, Huang Ting jian, Chao Bu zhi and has brought to academic circle'sattention at present. This thesis regards Zhang Lei's later period poetryas the research target, takes the North Song Dynasty party conflict afterShao Sheng as the view, discussing the influence of party conflict to ZhangLei's character, the political attitude and the poetry creation, in orderto evaluate Zhang Lei's later period poetry objectively. This thesis consists of quotation and text. The text contains threechapters. The quotation will introduce his life, the present situation ofresearching him and this article's meaning and target. The first chapter will outline Zhang Lei's social intercourse afterShao Sheng and the Confucianism and Buddhism fusion of his thought. Thecontact with Brother Su gave an example to Zhang's personality and therules of poetry. The contact with Huang Ting jian, Pan Da lin manifestedthe sincere friendship in the adverse circumstance. The intercourse withofficial Zhai Ruwen explained Zhang still had politics passion in therelegating time. The intercourse among people from Buddhism to Taoismprovided Zhang a mental settlement. Zhang took part in politics with passionand didn't seek fame and wealth because of his complex thoughtconstitution, which gave him the politics enthusiasm, supported him inthe adverse circumstance and achieved the indifferent unique boundary. The second chapter analyzed party conflict after Shao Sheng, ZhangLei's frustrated experiences and the change of Zhang Lei's political viewfrom Shao Sheng to Chong Ning. The new party in the party conflict afterShao Sheng initiated the literary inquisition, excluded the other party by the writing, relegated the Yuan You party members to the far states andprohibited the writings of the other party. Zhang Lei was relegated becauseof his membership of Yuan You party, his anthology of "ke shah", "hongxuan" were also suffered from burning down. The party conflict broughta profound influence to Zhang Lei's political mentality. In thepreliminary stage, Zhang Lei had the will to save the country, longed forhaving something to do, voiced his opinion about imperialism and dared tocriticize the current politics. But later he had the fear in mind and hadto keep silence because of the changeable conflict between new and oldpolitical party and the frequent literary inquisition. So he hid his intensesocial consciousness in his early time, transferred to poetry, alcohol andBuddhism in order to dispel his great aspiration which was difficult tofulfill. The third chapter will discuss Zhang Lei's poetry creation after ShaoSheng. Section one stresses Zhang Lei's poem proposition of reciting thepersonality which is different from Huang Tingjian's gentle and moderatepoem proposition, the different relegating depression expression anddifferent literature talent which the former uses the form of poem and thelatter uses the form of Ci. The Four Scholars of the Su's school wererelegated because of their membership of Yuan You party, but they haddifferent manners facing the misery, the creation also presented thedifferent style on account of their different thought, disposition. Sectiontwo mainly makes the contrast between Zhang Lei and Qin Guan's relegationmentality, attempting to reveal Ke Shan Scholar and Huai Hai Scholar 'sdistinct mind course in their respective final life stage. Zhang Lei'scharacter is open-minded, in relegating time he experienced the mentalevolution path from depression to extrication to surmounting. In thisprocess, his relieved thought and Buddhism as a kind of mood-stabilizingmedication caused him to forget the success and failure. Zhang walked fromhis individual grief, projected his grief vision to the world and realizedhis self-surmounting in the adverse circumstance. Qin Guan's characteris fragile and rigid, although in the relegating period he tried to seekthe extrication by each way, he finally was unable to surmount because of his disposition obstruction, moved towards his official career terminaland died with hatred. The author believes the surmounting consciousnesswhich Zhang Lei displayed in the relegating time and the rigid consciousnesswhich Qin guan displayed were the intrinsic reasons that causeed theirdifferent political destinies. Section three unfolds Zhang Lei's poetrystyle after Shao Sheng by comparing with Huang Tingjian's. Zhang Lei'sstyle was plain and tended to be perfunctory, while Huang's style wasnatural and complicated.
