| The May 4th Movement period was an important period in the development of Chinese female education. Under Reforms in the new old society, female education was then facing stern challenge. With the opening-up of western women's rights and western advanced education thought, China's female education derived the fresh blood, thus appeared female education to the new ball game. This time female education was taking the female independent personality as the goal, taking the equality of Men and Women education as the content, taking coeducation as the form and taking western-style science education as the method, it had fully manifested the time characteristic which caused the female education to the new stage and page, including perfection of female independent personality, reduction illiterate person and promotion to female productive skills.The female modern education provided theory basis for the new education idea in the period of May 4th, impelling the equality of Men and Women education, guiding the female education to the modernization. But it still had some insufficiencies because of many limited conditions. A research into the theory will give a boost to the progress of modern education, especially to benign development of the female education. |
