In the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century with the introduction of Western culture, the traditional culture of China and Japan have been unprecedented impact, suffered a huge challenge, but also won the opportunity to achieve mastery and re-encounter the newborn. The movement of studying abroad was the largest cultural exchange activities in this period, and going to Japan to study art plays an important role in artistic development and construction of the modern Chinese, especially in art education. Although the research on the movement of studying abroad deepening by scholars both here and abroad, but for the detailed research on students in Japan is very seldom China and Japan, as the Asian countries, are influenced to start new art education by Western art. Because of different national conditions, economy and culture, the development of their art education have big differences, the establishing Chinese modern art education influenced by Japanese greatly.This paper, by referring to historical data, historical review and other methods, research on the groups of Chinese students studying in the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century in Japan. Firstly making an simple exposition about the Chinese modern education, the production of modern art education and the movement of studying in Japan before the Sino-Japanese relations, followed by a brief overview of the development of the early twentieth century Chinese art education background, which generated from a study in motion, causes, profiles and situation, the political situation of the students at that time; Then making a brief summarizes of the historical development of art education in Japan, and some movement for Change expanded art education in Japan after the Meiji Restoration, clarifing the actual situation of Chinese painters of this period in Japan; such Liangjiang normal school as a starting point of fine arts, a series of reform measures on Chinese art education by scholars after returning from Japan or Japanese art teachers were analyzed, in order to reveal the influence of Japanese art education on the beginning of the establishment of China’s Modern art education; Finally, concluding successful experience about Japanese art education on absorbing foreign culture in the early twentieth century, through a comparative example of development situation in Sino-Japanese art education conducted, coming out of inspiration for contemporary art education development in China.
