In the history of the development of modern Chinese poetry, Bian Zhilin is an insurmountable art peak. As a representative of modern trends of the 1930s poetry, the most significant feature of the concept and the artistic pursuit of Bian Zhilin's poetry is to explore and open up the impersonal lyrical way, which is also the unique contribution he made to the development of Chinese poetry.From the point of "impersonal lyricism", this dissertation analyzes the theory meaning of modernism and aesthetic characteristics of objectivity in Bian Zhilin poetry, probes into the possible factors and strategies which promote the effect of impersonal lyricism with his poetry, looks forward to a new vision to expand the textual meaning and significance in his poetry. In additon to the introduction and conclusion parts, the main part of this dissertation is divided into three parallel chapters: intellect, image and dramatization.The first chapter discusses the relation between intellect and impersonal lyricism. "Intellect" is the feature of emphasizing intellectual thinking in the poetry creation and text constritution. In the pursuit of intellect, Bian Zhilin's poetry stresses the integration of intellect and sensibility, the abstract idea and philosophy metaphysics, emphasizes the experience of poetry and the strategy of idea sensitization, with the means of wit, irony, paradox, leads to the exile from the traditional lyricism, forms the effect of objective impersonal lyricism.The second chapter expounds the relation between image and impersonal lyricism. "Image" does not lyric directly, but utilizes the implication of objective correlative to express the poet's emotion indirectly. In the image of expression, Bian Zhilin's poetry can be divided into three levels: description, metaphor and symbolization. With the poet's personal feelings and his viewpoints penetrating more, the implication increases and the effect of objective impersonal lyricism becomes stronger as well.The third chapter analyses the relation between dramatization and impersonal lyricism. "Dramatization" refers to avoiding a very straightforward representation, but placing the author's will and emotion on the external things. Except following the dramatic expressing principles, Bian Zhilin's poetry uses a variety of specific dramatic means, such as dramatic voice, dramatic situations, dramatic scenes and dramatic structure, with the objective and indirect performance, contributes to the effect of objective impersonal lyricism.In the term of method, it combines abstractive theoretic analysis with actual text reading. On revealing the overall apperance of the impersonal lyricism in Bian Zhilin's poetry, it inspects the causal relation between these strategies and the effect of impersonal lyricism.
