Analysis On The Modes Of Thinking Reflected In 540 Bushou In〈Shuo Wen〉

Chinese characters belong to ideograph system, conveying their meanings through different structures that are essential. Character is not only the writing system for Chinese language, but also the output of Chinese nation's logic and the logical tool, demonstrating the features of Chinese traditional thinking modes with the appearance of crystal. Meanwhile, the western writing is the tool for logical modes, too. The units consist of letters demonstrate the unique logical modes with their own performances.Under the guidance of Chinese Characters Culture, this thesis studies the close relationship between Chinese character structures and the traditional thinking modes, which is on the observations and analysis of the structures of 540 Bushou characters in . The thesis tells that there are features of association, integrity, combination between heaven & people, symmetry lying below the structures of the 540 Bushou characters, and the counterparts of them are the logical modes of association, integrity, the idea of combination between heaven & people, symmetry. In contrast, the thinking modes reflected by western writings are abstract, individual, separate between heaven & people and so on.The thesis consists of the following five parts:I. The relationship between writings and thinking modes.The relationship between Chinese characters and thinking modes and the relationship between Latin alphabets and logics are argued side by side, in review of two different historical viewpoints on the relationship between languages and thinking modes, meanwhile, the personal idea is expressed. Wherever in oriental or west, language is the thinking tool just as Plato said when mind is thinking, he is nothing but talking to himself. Moreover, writing is the tool to record language, so writing is the reflection or, in other words, carrier of thinking modes.II. The position of among the traditional books on Chinese character: It is the most outstanding and influential representative of all its peers. 540 Bushou characters from Yi to Hai are the soul and spirit of the book, which is the first book on Chinese characters based on the classification of Bushou characters. Even in today's various dictionaries, the Bushous among them are mainly from directly or indirectly.III. The research and comparison between different thinking modes reflected from Chinese characters and west writings. The thinking modes reflected on 540 Bushou characters in the book are association, integrity, combination between heaven & people, symmetry. By contrast, the logics reflected by Latin letters are abstraction, individuality and the division between heaven & people.IV. Conclusion.
