Some current translation principles are guided by the traditional equivalence-based theory. However, they are sometimes not applicable to the translation practice. This brings both theoretical and practical significance to the study of new translation principles. With the development of market-oriented economy, the exchange of economic information as well as other information becomes more and more frequent. Therefore, it's urgent to establish a set of practical and comprehensive principles to meet the needs of the economic development in business translation. Faced with such a requirement, based on the Skopos Theory and the analysis of translation nature, the principles of business translation from Chinese into English are put forward in the dissertation. They are proved applicable and then applied to the practice of business translation in the following chapters. The paper is to be divided into six parts as follows:Chapter one gives a brief introduction to the necessity and the feasibility of exploring business translation principles. In chapter two, compared with the traditional equivalence-based theory, the functional theory and the Skopos theory are introduced. Their strengths and feasibility are obvious and highlighted. In chapter three, the writer discovers that business translation aims at making some kinds of economic activities successful for profits. Based on such a purpose, the Skopos theory is more applicable than the equivalence-based theory.Chapter four is the main body, which deals with the principles in detail. The principles are (1) adequate information selection (2) functional equivalence (3) consistent translation of terms. In this section, the definition and the application of each principle are addressed in detail.Chapter five focuses on the interchangeable applications of the three principles. Although the application of each principle has been dealt with in chapter four, it is better to apply them interchangeably and make them work together in business translation because they are united as an organic whole.Chapter six is a brief summary. Generally speaking, the three principles which have been put forward can work interchangeably as an integrated whole. However, in the practical application each of them has its own special focus due to the divergent types of source texts and different purposes of translation.
