A Report On C-E Translation Of Chemical Reagents Operational Procedure Under The Functional Equivalence Theory

With the development of society and improvement of technology,scientific and technological exchanges among countries are increasingly close.Among them,chemical exchanges play an indispensable role in human production and life.Scientific and technological text of chemical reagents,which comes from a professional chemical company,has been selected in this translation.The text mainly introduces the preparation of standard reagents and the determination of residual reagents,involving the preparation,standardization,comparison and calculation of reagents.There are a lot of technical terms,chemical equations and no-subject sentences in the text,which brings many difficulties in the C-E translation.Based on the features of technology English and from the perspective of functional theory,this paper focuses on the treatment of specific nouns,chemical equations,nominalization and no-subject sentences in the text.Based on the task description and case analysis,,this practice report draws the following conclusions.The application of vocabulary should be considered repeatedly and determined to ensure its accuracy when translating vocabulary.Under the condition of faithfulness,sentence should be translated based on the combination of the characteristics of science English with the text characteristics of science English in the most appropriate way to ensure the preciseness and readability of the text,which makes the realization of semantic and stylistic equivalence between the original text and target text and conveys the meaning of original text better.
