According to German theologian Hans Küng, whose academic achievements led to the possibility of establishing "a global ethic" in the world. In his book, Hans Kiing argued, " global ethic" is charaterized by a fundamental consensus on binding values, irrevocable standards, and personal attitudes. Besides, he also confirms there is already a consensus among the religions in our world, which constitutes the basis for a global ethic, which was summarized as two fundamental principles and four irrevocable directives. Hans Kung developed these ideas in Global Responsibility, a book published in German in 1990, and in English in 1991. In this book, he declared loud and clearly: "No survival without a world ethic. No world peace without dialogue between the religions." These ideas constitute the basic principles of the Declaration Towards a Global Ethic, which was drafted by Hans Kiing and signed during the Parliament of the World's Religions in 1993.However, more work need to be done both on theoretical level and practical level. In fact, although the document signed in Chicago has established basic principles for "a global ethic", the relevent details are still far on the way. Nevertheless, Declaration Towards a Global Ethic has brought a promising start to the world. for all of us: unprecedently, all individuals and religious traditions are encoraged to develop a ethical system by broadening and deepening their own tradition and insights, and promote their understandings and relations on basis of mutual exchange and tolerance. In this dissertation, the author discusses all kinds of elements leading to the humanity foundation of Hans kiing's global ethic. In this dissertation, the author outlines origin and development of Hans kiing's Humanity theory, which serves as cornerstone of his"global ethic"and discusses the problems and dilemma faced by Hans Küng's "global ethic" in a holistic perspective. In the conclusion, the author argues, a "global ethic" is not the final answer to all the conflicts this world is witnessing and experiencing. However, the promotion of ethical awareness among human beings and the dependance on human inner world will generate new insights and fresh ideas of soultions to a peaceful world.
