The fast developing 21century requires many talents with advanced qualities. To enhance the collective quality, Chinese people have acknowledged that piano education,especially the education for children is one of the most optimal means of quality education. Recently, the enthusiasm on learning piano has altered the cultural living structure of many families. Piano latently edifies people's sentiment and enriches people's life, and meanwhile creates a lot of musical talents. In China, this new family environment has helped to improve the collective quality of Chinese people. However, in the course of piano education for children in China, there are still some drawbacks which hinder the further development of piano education. The thesis is consist of three chapters.Chapter One:the present situation of piano education for children.This chapter is mainly about the present situation of piano education for children and the measures we should take to improve it.The present situation is elaborated from four perspectives: the requests for quality education, the effects of music education on quality education, the effects of piano education on intelligence and non-intelligence factors and the further development of piano education.Chapter Two: azphysical and psychological study on piano education for children.This chapter firstly analyzes the physiological characteristics of children from three perspectives, namely the characteristics of children's muscle ,their skeleton, their nerve reflection.Secondly in this chapter the author analyzes the psychological characteristics of children from five perspectives, namely the children's learning purpose, their motivation and the stimulation of motivation, their cognitive ability, their perseverance and their rebellious attitude. Chapter Three: the study on the initiation education of piano.(This is the most important part in the thesis.)This chapter elaborates the teaching methods of initiation education for children and some problems that the teachers should pay attention to. Including the pre-training , the contents of teaching, the way and the method of teaching.The purpose of the thesis is to help the piano teachers to select pertinent pedagogical methods and means to teach the children learners to play piano according to their respective traits. And finally we expect piano education could become one of the most successful means to improve the children's qualities.
