With the birth of the Rite and Music System in Zhou Dynasty, feasting and drinking poetry in the Book of Odes, which belongs to the Rite and Music Culture System in Zhou Dynasty, comes into being. Written by noblemen in Zhou Dynasty, feasting and drinking poetry surely embodies the ideology and value orientation of the noble. Feasting and drinking poetry has the significance both in ceremonies and thoughts. The thesis deals with the feasting poems and the Rite and Music System in Zhou Dynasty, establishes contact with the cultural and background in Zhou Dynasty so as to reveal the characteristic and cultural value of the feasting and drinking poetry and explore the character and essence of the Rite and Music System in Zhou Dynasty. The thesis can be divided into five parts:Part one serves as the introduction. It demonstrates the identification of the feasting and drinking poetry, reviews the research work from the Han Dynasty and sets forth the significance of the thesis.Part two probes into the birth of the feasting and drinking poetry and clarifies its ceremony character in origin. The rites, music and the feasting and drinking poetry are "trinity". From Western Zhou Dynasty to Mid-Spring and Autumn Period, poetry and music are integrated, so are music and rites. The feasting and drinking poetry comes into being with the birth of the Rite and Music System of Zhou Dynasty. It serves as the music on the ceremonies of Yan Rite and the country drinking.Part three associates the feasting and drinking poetry with some ancient books and records, such as "Three Rites" and Zuo's Commentary. There is an analysis of the feasting and drinking poetry, which is the representation and supplement to the rite of Zhou Rite, so as to display the character and cultural value of the feasting and drinking poetry. This thesis demonstrates Yan Rite and other related rites: the rites of ancestor worship, the rites of drinking. Part four reveals the political morals of the system of Rite and Music System in Zhou. On one hand it analyzes the way of ruling the country in Zhou Dynasty; on the other hand it discusses the life pursuit of people of Zhou. The content of Zhou Rite is very colorful. To make a summary, it is of significance in two aspects: one lies in the social system--- Zhou Rite creates the conceptual pattern which is both rigid in social estate and full of moral principles; the other is in the outlook of life--- the birth of Zhou Rite indicates the formation of the new philosophy of the people in Zhou Dynasty. The Rite and Music System in Zhou Dynasty is a culture construction based on ethical or moral principles and a system to hold together the feudal patriarchal system.Part five is the conclusion. This part brings forward the conception of following research and the prospect of cultural research on feasting and drinking poetry in the Book of Odes.
